Gateway to Capitol Forest
Capitol State Forest is the largest off-road
area the DNR operates in Washington State. Capitol forest is working forest
with Douglas fir, Western Hemlock, Red Alder and Cedar. The harvest of Capitol
forest’s timber helps to fund Washington State’s Schools. All vehicles, including OHVs are allowed on
forest roads year round, trails are open March 31 thru November 1.
There are 7 campgrounds with a total of 96 campsites located
throughout the park. Facilities are considered primitive and open the same
times as the trails. The North of the
park is the ATV/ORV use area, the south is reserved for horses.
Here is a trail overview: Rock Candy East and Rock Candy West
are 2.25 miles each, North Rim Trail is 25 miles, Mt Molly Porter is 21 miles,
Middle Waddell Loop is 8 miles, Loki trail is 8 miles, Mt Molly Loop is 7.7
miles long. The numbered trails are: 51, .4 miles, 50, 2 miles, 40, 5 miles,

In addition to OHV / ORV trails there is so much more for
an off-roader to do in the park. Here are various things going on at any given time
of the year: hunting (turkey, bear, deer, elk, and grouse), fishing, target
