Stop the Drain on ORV Tag Money! |
|
Saturday, 07 April 2007 |
The WA OHV Alliance (WOHVA) www.wohva.org the only organization in WA State
protecting the riding for all ATV, 4WD and Off Highway Motorcycle users in
WA State, needs your help RIGHT NOW to prevent YOUR ORV Tag money from being
wasted on non-OHV bureaucratic nonsense! The WOHVA board of directors has
requested this CLOUT Alert.
The House budget bill HB 1128 was already passed and a provision in it
provides approximately $682,000 (that's 41,000 of your ORV tag fees!) to the
WA State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) with out requiring it to be
used to promote and provide for OHV recreation.
That is THEFT of YOUR OHV $$$$$$$!!! SB 5140 is still in work and both
bills will have to go a conference committee for final compromise work
before the budget is finalized this session.
Remember, the DNR has already been skimming approximately 40% of your
Nonhighway & Offroad Vehicle Activities (NOVA) funds off the top for over 30
years. The DNR has consistently refused to provide detailed accounting of
where those funds have gone. At the same time the DNR has been arrogantly
closing areas to OHVs! Sultan Basin, Spada Lake, Tiger Mountain and most
recently the P5000 road system to mention a few, without even attempting to
keep them open for us!
We don't need our ORV Tag money going to support an arrogant state
bureaucracy just because the OHV community did not spend all of their own
money on OHV projects this year! However, that is exactly what is going to
happen if YOU fail to contact YOUR legislator and ask them to STOP IT!
Please contact your legislator immediately! You can visit your legislator's website immediately by clicking this link: http://www1.leg.wa.gov/house/

Dear Mr. Helgeson,
I signed on because I have been annoyed, endangered, and angered one too many times by people riding motorized dirt-bikes and other off-road vehicles that have no damn business anywhere. To me, this bill is narrow--it doesn't include those "personal watercraft," seemingly jet-powered little missiles whose only apparent purpose is to risk death and dismemberment for boaters and swimmers, for the amusement of spoiled drunk teenagers.

Your Attendance is Urgently Needed To Help Stop Legislators Using OHV Funds To Shut Down Our Riding Areas.
Plan ahead, take a vacation day and bring your kids. Load up the truck and trailer with motorcycles and ATV's. Our Legislators need to see the impact the OHV industry has on our economy, we must let them know it's time to return our OHV funds and expand Off-Road in Washington State. In spite of the fact Off-Road is growing faster than ever before in history our OHV areas are closing faster than ever and our funds have been raided. It's time to tell our Legislators we have had enough. We must speak up now or they will close even more land. Act now before it's too late join us at the State Capitol.

CLOUT Legislative Alert: HB 1692 |
|
Monday, 05 February 2007 |
|
The Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance (WOHVA )
representing over 250,000 4WD, ATV and Off Highway Motorcycle enthusiasts in
WA State is supporting HB 1692. We need your help and communication to
your PERSONAL legislator who is on the committee that will hear this bill
Wednesday morning, February 7, 2007 at 0800.
Under current law federal agencies such as the United States Forest Service
apply for and receive funding from the Washington State NOVA (non-highway
and off-road vehicle activities) program. NOVA funds are intended for OHV
use. This bill prevents NOVA funds from going to federal agencies which do
not have areas allowing ORV use. This has been happening!

New Interagency Pass Program Will Help Public Enjoy Enhanced Recreation Sites on Public Lands
U.S. Department of the Interior
Office of the Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 5, 2006
WASHINGTON — Deputy Secretary of the Interior Lynn Scarlett and Under Secretary of Agriculture Mark Rey today announced a new interagency recreation pass that will benefit visitors to national public lands. The new pass, authorized by the Congress in 2004, combines the benefits of existing recreation passes from five federal agencies into one comprehensive pass, the “America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.”
The new pass covers recreation opportunities on public lands managed by four Department of the Interior agencies – the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Reclamation, and by the Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service.
